Anyone ready to tee off? If you’re a novice looking for a casual round with friends or something more competitive, there’s a first class golf course to suit in Albury Wodonga. And when we say first class, we mean it! With the likes of Ian Baker-Finch, Peter Senior, Peter Lonard and Craig Parry coming to Albury Wodonga each year for the NSW Senior Open golf tournament, you can be confident we take our golf seriously. We’re also proud of local lad, Zach Murray who’s honed his skill on our courses and is now on the PGA European Tour, so there must be something special about them!
The lush greens of Albury’s Commercial Golf Resort are a pleasing sight for any golfer. Featuring tree lined fairways and well placed bunkers, the course has a few testing holes to challenge even an experienced golfer. Beware of the burrow on the 6th and 18th hole.
The golf course at Thurgoona’s Country Club Resort will test golfers of all abilities. Designed by Peter Thomson and Mike Wolveridge, the course offers beautifully covered couch fairways, large bent grass greens with subtle slopes, and strategically placed bunkers. Beware of the 16th hole – the challenging par 3 includes an attempt at the tee over water.
Head 25min west of Albury to the popular Howlong Golf Resort. Featuring 18 holes, the flat course makes it suitable for all levels of golfing prowess.
And not to be outdone, Wodonga’s Golf Course should be on any keen golfers radar. Located on the edge of Wodonga, the picturesque course has a settling stillness to it. Lining the fairways, the native trees are important to the course design, as is Felltimber Creek that snakes its way through the course. Though not for the faint-hearted, the course is over 6km in length.
Not interested in walking the fairways? Albury’s SS&A Club lets you tee off from courses around the world by using cutting-edge sensor and virtual technology. Or you could try Drummond Golf’s Big Swing Simulator for something a little out of the ordinary.
